Transforming TalkNText into a shared communications hub for Verizon families

Following the work on TalkNText, Verizon approached Cloudli to explore how elements of the product could be adapted into a new experience for Verizon Family Plan customers. The concept, called HUB, was designed to give families a shared communications space - bringing calls and messages together around a shared number while making it easier for family members to stay connected.

The Challenge

This challenge wasn't simply to reskin an existing product. TalkNText had been designed around a different proposition and customer context, while Verizon had its own established brand language, interaction patterns and expectations for a consumer mobile experience.

HUB introduced a different context for the TalkNText experience. While TalkNText brought individual team members together to communicate as a business, HUB applied the same underlying idea to families - giving members their own identity and conversations within a shared family space. This required a more stripped-back interpretation of the original product, removing functionality and complexity that made sense in a business environment but wasn't relevant to family communication.

I worked across the UX, workflows and UI components to simplify the experience around the needs of families, while adapting the underlying patterns to feel native to Verizon's consumer ecosystem.

The Outcome

The resulting concept brought the idea of a shared family communications hub to life through a cohesive native mobile experience, with a clear visual hierarchy and interaction model across the different journeys.

Although the project ultimately did not progress to production, the delivered work demonstrated how an existing product foundation could be successfully adapted to a new enterprise context, while retaining the underlying simplicity and usability of the original experience.
